How it is obtained:
Industrially, this product is obtained by absorbing hydrochloric gas in demineralized water. In turn, hydrochloric gas is obtained through the combustion of hydrogen within chlorine gas.
Main applications:
Metallurgy, environmental applications, water treatment, pH adjustment, chemical industry, vinyl and polyurethane production. Effective remover of moisture stains on the most diverse surfaces.
History
Some attribute the discovery of Hydrochloric Acid to the Persian alchemist Abū Mūsā Jābir ibn Ḥayyān, although the most likely date is sometime in the Middle Ages. Large-scale production began with the Industrial Revolution.
