Bondalti Water will carry out a major expansion project at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of the industrial unit of Proláctea, a dairy company of Grupo Entrepinares, located in the municipality of Castrogonzalo in the province of Zamora, Spain. This project seeks to improve treatment capacity and reinforce the commitment to environmental sustainability of the company's operations.
The intervention will make it possible to adapt the water treatment facility to the new requirements caused by the increase in production at Proláctea, guaranteeing a 40% increase in water treatment capacity, from 1,000 to 1,400 m3/day, which will significantly strengthen the environmental sustainability of the company's operations by increasing the circularity of water resources.
In order to increase the capacity of the facility, the incorporation of advanced membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology with ultrafiltration has been chosen, which will guarantee the production of a high quality effluent, suitable for reuse in accordance with the new Royal Decree 1085/2024. This change of technology from the current SBR to the future MBR, responds to the natural growth of the plant, allowing the capacity of the installation to be increased, improving and ensuring the quality of the treated effluent, with minor modifications in the operation of the existing components, and changing the operation to obtain an effluent that complies with the most restrictive regulations for discharge into public watercourses, including the reuse of reclaimed water.
In addition, the project will include a comprehensive upgrade of the PLC and the advanced control system developed by Bondalti Water. This improvement will allow a more accurate monitoring of the operation of the installation and will facilitate the management of multiple parameters, which will result in a more efficient interpretation of the data, and faster and more informed decisions.
The project is scheduled for completion by mid-March 2025.
