Bondalti was the only company to be honoured with three prizes at the Responsible Care® Awards 2024, an initiative promoted annually by Cefic - the European Chemical Industry Council.
At this year's Responsible Care® Awards, Bondalti was awarded in three different categories for the implementation of two artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, in the management and maintenance of industrial equipment and also in the prevention of cyber-attacks, and for its Corporate Responsibility Programme, Together Matters.
The Portuguese company won in the ‘Digitalisation and Innovation’ category with a technological project that combines big data and AI models to prevent signs of industrial equipment failure. Over the course of nine months, this predictive software modelled and analysed 1,350 variables, identifying 24 relevant events, most of which required maintenance interventions, preventing serious equipment failures from occurring.
Due to the success of this tool, which has improved the operational efficiency and reliability of all production processes, Bondalti has decided to integrate it into all units by the end of 2025.
Bondalti also won in the “Process Safety and Cybersecurity enhancement” category after implementing a comprehensive AI-driven cybersecurity solution that simultaneously detects and prevents digital attacks.
This cybersecurity solution inspected more than 63,500 events that generated around 4,600 alerts. Of these, 4,261 were investigated. The implementation of this AI-based technology significantly increased the company's ability to detect and respond to cyber threats. This integrated approach has resulted in automated inspections, reflecting a proactive and constantly evolving cybersecurity strategy.
Together Matters is Bondalti's 2030 Corporate Responsibility Programme, winner in the ‘Partnerships’ category. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the main objective of this strategy is to effectively transform Bondalti from a philanthropic company into a responsible investor with an impact on the communities in which it operates.
Within the framework of Together Matters, Bondalti actively seeks to ally itself with projects characterised by the firm purpose of giving back to society and nature more than the benefits enjoyed and with the vision of contributing to a legacy of responsibility.
Founded in 1972 and based in Brussels, Cefic is the largest association in the European chemical industry and currently has around 650 members and organisations representing around 14% of global chemical production and employing 1.2 million workers in the European Union.
The Responsible Care® Awards 2024 are promoted by Responsible Care®, a voluntary global chemical industry initiative that commits companies and national chemical industry associations to continuously improve their environmental performance through health and safety initiatives and to use resources efficiently to minimise waste.
With the Responsible Care® Awards, Cefic is highlighting the contribution of companies in the chemical sector to the goals set out in the Antwerp Declaration, which emphasises the central role of this industry in building a competitive, resilient and sustainable Europe.
