Bondalti supports new training camp of the Estarreja Volunteer Fire Brigade

Bondalti has joined in celebrating the centenary of the Estarreja Volunteer Fire Brigade (BVE) by donating 15,000 euros towards the construction of the organisation's new training ground.

The long-desired new facility is located next to the A1 motorway and aims to provide optimal training conditions for dealing with a wide variety of incidents and emergency situations.

The construction also received financial support from PACOPAR - the Community Advisory Panel of the Responsible Care Programme, of which Bondalti is a member, along with the other companies in the Estarreja Chemical Complex (CQE) and various other local entities.

Another highlight of the commemoration programme was the seminar "Civil Protection and the Chemical Industry", which took place last Saturday in the Salão Nobre / Old BVE Barracks. The event was attended by various official bodies, including the mayor, Diamantino Sabina, and Bondalti was represented by Luís Delgado, executive director, and David Lopes, director of the Estarreja plant. At the end, a visit was made to the new training ground.

According to Luís Delgado, "the Estarreja Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the fundamental pillars of life in the municipality, and over the years it has made an invaluable contribution to the population and businesses in the region. This support as part of the celebration of the organisation's 100th anniversary is a way of expressing our deepest gratitude and represents a renewed impetus for a long-standing partnership, enabling us to strengthen the effectiveness of this centenary institution's work."

Next 13th July marks exactly one century since the Estarreja Volunteer Fire Brigade began operating. It was on this day in 1924 that the first public presentation of the firefighting equipment acquired with the help of the town's population took place, following the violent fire that had almost completely destroyed the Church of St James of Beduído two years earlier.
