Bondalti signed an agreement with the Greinvolucrt Group to install more than 24720 photovoltaic solar panels at the Estarreja industrial unit, with an installed capacity of 14MWp.
The new project, aimed at self-consumption, will allow Bondalti to reduce its dependence on the national electricity grid, starting to produce part of its needs through totally clean solar energy. The more than 21 thousand MWh generated annually at the facilities will dictate a significant reduction of almost 3873 tons in CO2 emissions and thus make it possible to accelerate the energy transition process.
Luis Delgado, executive director of Bondalti, said: “Our industry uses a lot of electrical energy in its production process, so it is essential to invest in the generation of energy from renewable sources, thus contributing to reducing its carbon footprint and at the same time contributing to the reduction of the energy bill”.
João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greinvolucrt Group, emphasized that “it is with great satisfaction that we signed another agreement with the objective of providing a century-old company that occupies a leading position in the chemical industry”, recalling that “there is an increasing awareness of the benefits of solar energy for self-consumption, both for financial savings and for the positive contribution to the environment, helping to decarbonize the economy”.
The new project follows the program for putting solar parks into operation inside the Estarreja plant, with a view to supplying energy to the industrial process, which began with a first installation in 2022.
