Bondalti joins the Science Based Targets initiative

Bondalti Chemicals has just had the letter of commitment submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved, a global organisation whose aim is to mobilise business and financial entities around the world to play an active role in combating the climate crisis.

According to the accession program, Bondalti Chemicals' next step will be to present a set of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, based on the latest science-based criteria and methodologies, which are considered necessary to limit the increase in global warming, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

The definition of short-term targets will be consistent with the ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C for Scope 1 and 2 emissions and well below 2°C for Scope 3 emissions, and should be presented over the next 24 months for validation by the SBTi.

Commitment to decarbonisation

As the Iberian leader in the industrial chemicals sector, Bondalti is aware of its responsibility to actively contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy. In line with the efforts that the company has been making to decarbonise its operations and value chain, Bondalti sees climate action as a structuring element of its entire business model, representing a mission that cuts across the different areas of the organisation.

For the company, this commitment marks the starting point for the global review of its Climate Transition Strategy, which aims to deepen knowledge of Bondalti's impact on the value chain, develop emission reduction targets and define decarbonisation initiatives.

SBTi's partners are the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), with the participation of more than five thousand organisations from a wide range of sectors.
